REVISION HISTORY
----------------
1.0 March 15, 1992 Initial Release
1.1 April 02, 1992 Fixed bug which prohibited the DAMENU system to be
installed on any drive but C. Clarified 'blinking'
prompts in DAINSTAL and DAMENU. These same entrys
can now be chosen by hitting the first letter of the
entry.
1.2 May 01, 1992 Bug fix for DAINSTAL, which tried to modify the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file in the root directory of the
installed drive, rather than the boot drive.
1.21 Jan 01, 1994 Maintenance release, minor bug fix, '8' key
caused damenu to 'Exit to DOS'
2.0 May 15, 1994 New Version
QUICK START FOR VERSION 2.0
----------------------------
1) Run the install program DAINSTAL and follow the on-screen prompts.
(hopefully these should be self explanatory for most users) DAINSTAL
will copy the contents of the distribution disk to a directory that
you specify, so there's no need to create a directory and copy the
files manually, although you can still do this if you'd like;
DAINSTAL will recognize that you did this and won't try to recopy
the files
**** NOTE ****
2) If you have a previous version of DaMenu installed on your computer,
DAINSTAL will ask you if you'd like to put version 2.0 in the same
directory. Don't worry, all Version 1.x specific files will be
backed up just in case you'd like to go back to that version.
3) If you decided to have DAINSTAL modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT, then reboot
your computer once DAINSTAL has finished. Otherwise update the path
statement manually, and add the command 'M' as the last line of the
file so that DAMENU comes up at boot time. Reboot after saving the file.
4) Type 'M' at the DOS prompt to bring up the menu. (If you didn't have
DAINSTAL modify your autoexec, you must be in the directory created in
step 1 above)
5) Select a function key to associate an application with by simply pressing
that key. At this point, all function keys should read "* This Space
Available" and DAMENU knows that you want to setup a new application.
(If you opted to have menu alterations protected when you ran DAINSTAL,
then you will need to enter the ADMINISTRATOR'S password to enter/modify
an application)
6) Type in the appropriate Application Description in the box provided.
If you know the filename of the application, you can enter it the
the space provided and have DaMenu search for the app, or you can browse
your disk(s), which, depending on the size of your disks, can be quicker.
Select password protection and file-to-pass options (helpful for word
processors) if you so please. Choose OK. That's it!
7) Now hitting the same function key (once the application has been found
successfully) and Voila!! You're in your app! That's it!
Menu modifications can be made to an existing function key by hitting the
ALT key combined with that function key. Protection on exiting to DOS
can be made by selecting ALT-F10.
The initial password is DAMENU, and can be changed by re-running the
installation program (don't worry, DAINSTAL knows that DAMENU has been
installed already, and will bring up a different menu) DAINSTAL can be
invoked from within DAMENU by pressing ALT-I while in the menu system,
or by using the 'Short Cut Mouse Menu'-- Hold down the left mouse button,
then tap the right mouse button. The mouse menu will then appear.
The banner text, protection for menu modifications, screen blank delay
as well as the application password can all be modified through DAINSTAL,
which is password protected (if you protected alterations).
If at some point you'd like to return to version 1.x after trying V2.0,
that's also available in DAINSTAL's menu once V2.0 has been installed.

KNOWN INCOMPATABILITES
----------------------
***** 4DOS and NDOS
During the Beta Test stage of DaMenu V2.0, several users had problems with
the installation while running 4DOS or NDOS. These are COMMAND.COM
replacements that have added fuctionality over regular DOS commands. I've
downloaded a copy of 4DOS 5.0, and installed it on one of my development
machines 'right out of the box'. I didn't have any problems with either
DAINSTAL or DaMenu. More advanced users of 4DOS and NDOS may have different
configurations, both for the software and boot-up system, and thus may run
into problems.
***** QEMM V7.0
Also during the beta stage, QEMM V7.0 gave some users problems, specifically
with the MEM and CHKDSK commands.
